Artist Bio

Afefe is a storyteller, conjurer, and multidisciplinary artist guided by intention, desire, and deep listening. Working through poetry, textiles, movement, and ritual collaboration, she creates immersive experiences that invite people to reconnect with the wisdom of the body and the pleasure of being fully present. For more than fifteen years, Afefe created mixed-media textile work under the names Ramona Dallum Lindsey and Ramona Dallum. Her re-emerging practice expands beyond the object itself, weaving together quilting, knot tying, language, breath, sound, and movement into experiences that linger long after the encounter ends. Her work explores sensuality through metaphor, sacred geometry, symbolism, and touch—approaching the erotic as a space of curiosity, connection, and transformation rather than spectacle. Afefe believes fertile ideas and meaningful transformation emerge between consenting beings. Collaboration, mutual exchange, and collective care are central to her practice. Viewers, listeners, participants, and fellow creators are not passive observers, but active contributors to the experience itself. Some spiritual traditions describe a birthing person’s life through the phases of Maiden, Mother, and Crone—each carrying distinct wisdom and responsibility within the same body over time. Afefe embraces her Crone energy as a creative force capable of reshaping space, memory, and possibility. In Yoruba, afefe means air, breath, or breeze. Through her work, Afefe hopes to become all three: the breath that grounds you, the air that sustains you, and the breeze that gently shifts your awareness toward deeper intimacy with yourself and others.
