Artist Bio

Artist Rosalie Rosenthal (b. St. Louis, MO, USA) creates staged photographs to explore
personal and communal histories. She photographs familiar objects, domestic
environments, and landscapes to examine the contradictions of abundance and
progress, and obsolescence and decay.
Rosenthal earned a BA in History from Smith College in Northampton, MA and a BFA
from the University of Louisville's Hite Art Institute. She has exhibited at the Danforth
Museum, Oceanside Museum of Art, KMAC Contemporary Art Museum, the Griffin
Museum of Photography, Filter Space Chicago, Spalding University, and Manifest
Gallery. Her photographs have been published in Shadow and Light Magazine, Manifest
Gallery Photography Annuals, and collected by 21c Museum Hotels. She is a member
of the artist collective Memory Is a Verb. Rosenthal currently lives and works in
Louisville, Kentucky.
