KMAC is excited to present its newest publication, the KMAC 40: Crafting the Contemporary art book. This book celebrates the Museum’s 40th year milestone by exploring the evolution of the museum from its founding as an art and craft foundation to a contemporary art institution.

The introduction and foreword are by renowned art patron Reverend Al Shands, who was able to contribute just prior to his passing. The book also features the writing of other KMAC constituents such as current Executive Director Michelle Staggs, current Curatorial Director, Joey Yates and Immediate Past KMAC Board President, Theresa Carpenter Beames. Now in its 41st year, KMAC museum – and the book - pay tribute to the everyone who conceived of the institution and to those who continue in a united wish to surround themselves with beautiful and oftentimes powerful, challenging art.

The book is designed by Louisvillian Julia Comer, an award-winning graphic designer with a visual design career spanning over 20 years. In addition to having a deep passion for contemporary art, Julia has worked for KMAC for the past 9 years. “This book represents a heartfelt salute to the artists, thinkers, curators, leaders, and benefactors who, for the last 40 years, ensured the success and continuity of the institution that KMAC now embodies.”

The KMAC member price for this publication is $40. Please email our Retail Manager Kate Hall at kate@kmacmuseum.org to co-ordinate the use of your discount online or drop into the KMAC Shop, open Wed-Sun 10 am to 5 pm to purchase the book in person!
