REIMAGINING HOME: Memory, Material, and Meaning

MATERIAL OBSESSION 2025 INSTAGRAM ASSET.jpg

Thursday, September 11th, 2025

5-8 PM

Sponsored by Bulleit Bourbon

Twenty-two local artists have been invited to create unique new works of art by using donated & repurposed materials.  The resulting art pieces will be exhibited  in the MATERIAL OBSESSION exhibit in the KMAC Shop.

The idea of home is more than just a physical space—it’s a layered construct of memory, emotion, and identity. When we revisit and repurpose the remnants of domestic life—old fabrics, faded wallpapers, worn furniture, or long-forgotten decorative objects—we are engaging in a kind of quiet archaeology of belonging. These objects, once woven into the fabric of daily life, carry traces of intimacy, ritual, and time. By reimagining them in a new context, we don’t erase their history; we expand it, allowing home to become a living narrative rather than a fixed point in the past.
