Artist Bio

Melissa Gaddie is a lifelong native of Louisville, KY who has always been crafty and creative. She received her BFA (Photography) from the University of Louisville. After graduation, she took a long hiatus from photography, but always dabbled in various art and craft media.
Between graduation and the present day she learned beading techniques, learned how to knit and crochet, and began to utilize embroidery in mixed media projects.
After becoming a mother, many of her creative pursuits got pushed to the back burner,
although as her children have grown she’s been able to slowly ease back into creating work. She is interested in the intersections of photography and fiber art - especially using alternative processes - and also likes to explore the interplay of fiber arts and image transfer in mixed media work.
