Artist Bio

Maggie Harlow states, "I was lucky to have parents who gave me freedom to choose (and fund!) my college major. I chose oil painting and it was an enriching and wondrous exploration of my creative mind. As a graduate who then went into the busy world of finding my way, I only maintained my creative side through projects like wall murals in home of friends or referrals or creative expressions that would fit into the busy life of a working mom.

When my kids left home, my creative spirit burst out of me and I began painting, sculpting,
drawing, and collaging. It was a thrill to feel that cistern of creative energy refill inside of
me. Starting in Covid I began to tentatively show and sell art through Revelry Gallery. In 2024 they awarded me a solo show; I was terrified. The experience changed me forever.
“The weirder the better” was the mantra my creative sons gave me to keep arrow pointed
straight and give me the permission to make whatever was coming up from that bubbling
cistern. The show was a big success, and I continue to show art at Revelry. This past year my creative energy was devoted to writing my first book, soon to be released, but my cistern is bubbling again, and so I’m excited this entry might be the driver to bring me back into my art studio where hours melt away and I feel most like myself."
