Artist Bio
Sarah Jane is an interdisciplinary artist, educator, and environmental advocate living in Louisville, KY. Her practice primarily consists of works that incorporate fiber, textiles, natural and found materials, and community-based projects. She is a recent MFA graduate from the University of Louisville. Originally from Danville, KY, she attended the University of Kentucky in 2009 where she studied studio art, merchandising, apparel and textiles. While in Lexington, she became one of the founding members of an artist collective that served as platform for emerging and underrepresented fashion and textile artists from Kentucky. This group went on to form an arts non-profit called the Lexington Fashion Collaborative; Sarah Jane served on the organizations board as co-chairman. In 2012, She relocated to Los Angeles where she designed for the luxury brand The Elder Statesman and after returning home to Kentucky, she continued work in collaboration with the company creating art quilts. She is now a mother of two and continues to expand her studio practice as she explores new mediums, materials, and ways to incorporate arts into our everyday lives through education and experience- based installation.
