Artist Bio

Web, aka Rebecca Richards, is a sustainable fashion designer and multidisciplinary visual artist based between NYC, LA, & Louisville, Kentucky. Through their brand, The Web Has No Weaver, Web transforms discarded and thrifted items into upcycled couture, finding inspiration in the realm of avant-garde, psychedelic fantasy. Their work aims to create visually captivating and emotional experiences that challenge societal norms by defying the current homogeneous aesthetic of mass-produced fast fashion. By turning "trash" into glamorous treasures, Web disrupts capitalist culture and envisions a future that is connected, loving, and sacred. Web’s dedication to sustainability and freedom of expression is rooted in their background as co-founder of biodegradable glitter brand BioGlitz, with features in Vogue, Paper, Vice, & more. Their DIY sensibilities are born of their formative experience living at Brooklyn punk house Bohemian Grove, where they began hosting femme/queer art parties that extended to other DIY venues such as The Glove, Secret Project Robot, & Flowers for All Occasions– while simultaneously studying film, sustainable fashion, & queer critical theory at NYU. They have directed, written & costumed music videos and fashion films, created giant fabric installations, costumed plays and operas, as well as a solo sculpture shows.
