Artist Bio
Jen DeLeeuw is a Louisville-based artist and naturalist whose studio practice has
centered on painting and drawing since 2018. Working primarily in oil, soft pastel, and
charcoal, she creates portraits of the natural world that draw from her work in
conservation and habitat revitalization. Her compositions explore light, form, and
presence, treating birds, trees, and landscapes with the attentiveness traditionally
reserved for human portraiture.

Rooted in close observation and ecological connection, Jen’s work reflects scientific
curiosity and emotional resonance. Her paintings and drawings have been featured in
several group exhibitions and are held in private collections. In 2024, she presented her
first solo exhibition, Look Up: Portraits from the Preserve, at Surface Noise.
