Artist Bio

Celia Kelly is a contemporary artist based in Louisville, KY. She reveals a strong love of the land through her oil paintings. She known for her expressive use of color, light, and geometric components in her landscape paintings. Since childhood, she prefers to be outside in the natural world experiencing the elements around her whether it be land, wind, sunshine, or water. She has used the backroads of Central Kentucky, the winding country lanes of England, and the meandering passes in Provence as her inspiration for the last 15 years. Recently, she has come full circle and returned to the place of original inspiration, The Abbey of Ghesthemani Monastery, near Loretto KY. The place holds a philosophical and spiritual connection rather than a religious one. It provides wide open spaces that allow a landscape to reveal its moods and Celia has viewed many of these moods. She is currently working with mixed media to attempt to create the every changing moods of Ghesthemani.   Celia’s work has been featured in “Girl Crush”, at Portal Gallery, and two recent solo exhibitions “From Here to There to Everywhere”, at Logan Street Market Gallery.
